Chicken in Kitchen (1927) – Poster

Chicken in Kitchen (1927) poster

Description

This enigmatic promotional poster for Chicken in Kitchen remains one of the most puzzling surviving artifacts from Brian & Chirol Dog Studio. No animation cels, production stills, or plot details have been found, leaving its exact status uncertain. The image shows KOEUB cheerfully chasing a chicken with a large kitchen knife in hand, rendered in stark black-and-white line art against a plain background.

Its existence has fueled debate among animation historians and collectors: some regard it as KOEUB’s true first appearance, possibly as a pilot film, while others believe it represents a project abandoned before completion. Official studio documentation, however, designates Scrub-a-Dub Pup (1927) as KOEUB’s debut release.

The minimalist design, absence of background scenery, and limited color scheme suggest either an early promotional mock-up or a budget-conscious teaser. Regardless of its origin, the poster’s rarity and mysterious production history make it a significant piece for researchers studying the studio’s early creative development.
