This promotional poster for Taken Aboard! presents KOEUB and CHIROL in a tense, back-to-back pose, arms folded and brows furrowed, alongside the tagline “The Famous Pair… On Outs?” The composition teases a rift between the duo, hinting at interpersonal conflict as a key plot element.
Interestingly, the character designs here differ slightly from their on-screen appearances in the short, with subtle variations in facial proportions and posture. Such discrepancies were not uncommon in studio publicity art, as posters were often illustrated by separate artists working from early model sheets or incomplete production stills.
The muted, gradient background and restrained color palette give the piece a more subdued tone compared to the studio’s more vibrant comedic posters. Printed using early-1930s lithographic methods, the bold lettering and simplified shading keep the focus on the characters’ expressions and the intrigue of the tagline. Surviving examples are uncommon, and this copy retains sharp linework with only mild surface wear from age.
